Each year SBCO stages performances in a variety of venues throughout the Scottish Borders – from community halls, theatres and small churches to larger spaces such as the Victoria Halls in Selkirk, the Volunteer Hall in Galashiels, and the Tait Hall in Kelso.
Full Orchestral Concerts are generally staged in spring and autumn each year, with conductors and soloists of international stature often invited to work with the orchestra. Guests to date have included Steven Isserlis, Peter Donohoe, Garry Walker, John Cushing and James Lowe.
Other Concerts can involve string ensembles from SBCO’s main orchestra, members of the flute choirs and woodwind ensemble, or a small brass ensemble. They provide opportunities for SBCO’s musicians to gain performance experience, and to share live music with audiences in some of the more out-of-the-way parts of the Borders.
